Father of the Bride

This is a little throwback to a wedding I worked at while living in LA for bride Annie Meyers, daughter to director Nancy Meyers.  If Nancy's name doesn't bring a bell- think of some favourite romantic comedies like The Holiday, It's Complicated and Father of the Bride. Yup- she wrote and directed them all! I don't know about you but I LOVED the set design on all 3 of those films so I was not surprised that both Nancy and her daughter Annie had quite the vision for Annie's big day.

The wedding took place at Nancy's house in the Pacific Palisades (which was a replica design of the It's Complicated house) and was perfect. I loved how they played on all of the natural settings around them and turned that into it's own decor ( and when the natural surroundings needed a lift, we got fake tree branches and sewed them into the trees to amplify it!). Martha Stewart's team came and shot the whole thing for the magazine which was also really cool to see!

I have always been drawn to the whole "Southern Hospitality" thing so when I found out myself and the Sacks Productions team would be heading to Nashville to execute a wedding, I was stoked!

Not only was I excited to eat cornbread and hear people say "Ya'll" every few seconds, I was excited that we were planning a wedding for a band that I have admired for years! I admired their musical talents of course but I mainly admired their looks.

It took place just outside of Nashville at a rustic barn house. We decked the outdoor structure in string lights and hanging vines which paired together nicely with the bare wood tables. My favourite thing though was the lace table runners and flower choices (soft peach peonies!). Oh wait- I take that back- my favourite thing was eating homemade chocolate chip cookies that the couple gave out as favours while watching some favourite band dudes take shots together.

Before moving to LA, I thought it would be smart to begin applying for some jobs. Seems prettyyyy logical.

I didn't secure anything immediately though and landed in LA with a craigslisted apartment, no car and more concerning- no job.

A few weeks after rolling around in the sand and wondering if I made a huge mistake, I was lucky enough to land a gig at Sacks Productions- an event planning company that planned some pretty wicked events. Since I missed a solid two years of blogging, I thought it would be great to highlight some of the fun events I worked on over the last year and a half.

Above are photos from Kourtney Kardashian's baby shower for baby P. Although I wish I had more to show, it's pretty hard taking sneaky photos while your boss breathes over your shoulder. I loved the simple pink hues, the cotton candy station ( not pictured), the flamingo's and the pink balls that floated around in the pool!
