Tumeric Facemask

I had a life changing experience with a facialist and dermatologist in LA. Skin people in LA are either pro-botox and injections or are pro "you can cure your skin with mud from the sacred earth". Thankfully,  Terri Lawton, who I saw in LA, was all about the natural way to heal and help the skin. 

After my time with her (I still get some products from her and joke that she's my homegirl to friends), I turned to herb and oil concoctions . This mask is one of them. 

The powerful base of this mask is Tumeric which has over 3892 benefits and is the most healing herb to date (actually). Not only does it prevent cancer but it helps with inflammation (zits), redness, and promotes anti aging. Indian woman make this type of mask before their wedding day to make their skin GLOWS!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

-1/2 cup of Yogurt (any type of yogurt is fine, I used Greek)

-1 teaspoon of coconut oil

-1 tablespoon of flour (again- any flour is fine..I used Quinoa)

-1 1/2 tablespoons of Tumeric.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Get all of your ingredients out and measure accordingly. 

2. Mix them all together in a small bowl

3. Place in the fridge for 20 minutes (having the product cold is so key and feels AMAZING)

4. Lather on the face and leave on for 20 minutes. 

5. Add Cucumbers for the full facial affect

Note: Tumeric STAINS! Make sure to be very careful with it while washing it off. My Ryan Gosling dishtowel now has a yellow mark on Ryan's chest. Thank god Ryan looks good with anything on him.

DIY SUNNIES

I cannot tell you how obsessed I have been with the Prada Sunnies that have been blasted all over the internet in the last few months. Since I am super clumsy with my sunglasses (scratching, misplacing and breaking are common problems), I never spend a large amount of money on them. I also saw a few photos of some amazing jeweled ones that screamed "Summertime!".  With that being that, I decided it was DIY time! I got together with my girlies and hosted a little party to make these babies in style. 

What you will need

•A few cheap pairs of Sunglasses ( I got mine from Ardene's)

•Jewels ( I got mine from the Dollarstore)

•Flowers for the Prada ones ( I got mine from a store on Queen Street West, Toronto)

•A Glue gun

•Steady Hands

A little inspiration on the fridge 

After we were done, we felt it necessary to wear our sunglasses the entire night and well into the weekend.

How to make a pretty camera strap

Last week Refinery 29 showed us how one of Teen Vogue's editors, the very cool, Sarah Frances Kuhn, put a twist on the boring look of a black, thick camera strap. When I saw this, I was embarrassed that I haven't discovered this sooner and that I was going out in public with my ugly, suffocating strap. I was just about to order one, when I realized I owned a very cool chain myself and thought I would try it out on my own!



STEP 1
What you will need:
-Pretty chain
-I got this off a Faux Marc Jacobs Stam bag. The bag was killed and ready for the garbage..but the chain was not.



STEP 2
What you will need:
-Scissors
-Shoelaces/String


Cut your Strap off of the camera belts/bungee cords (there is probably an easier way to do this and a way to not ruin your original camera strap but I was impatient)
Cut the shoelace in half and tie the shoelace to the camera belts that are attached to the camera and tie the other end of the shoelace to the chain.



STEP 3
Voila!
